National Park Service lifeguards from across the country gathered at the Gateway National Recreation Area to test their lifeguarding skills in the 22nd annual NPS All-Women Lifeguard Tournament last Wednesday.

"This event is more of an athletic skill than a rescue skill. A rescue skill is when you go in the water and come back out," said Purpuri of the Run-Paddle-Run.Neither Pammel Anderson nor David Hasselhoff were seen at the event. No one seemed to be disappointed."My mind set is to sprint as fast as you can to your board and once you get to your board, you just go. So, that's my strategy. Get out as fast as you can and then from there you don't let yourself lose your lead."
